Terms of Use

Turns by Atlas and Tales

Last updated: May 2026

Plain language: These terms cover how you can use Turns, what you're buying, and what we're responsible for. We've tried to keep this readable. If something is unclear, email us.

1. What Turns is

Turns is an audio tour app for road trips, made by Atlas and Tales. You browse tours, purchase them through Apple's App Store, download them to your device, and listen to narrated stories triggered by GPS as you drive the route.

2. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Turns, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. We may update these terms — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

3. Your account

You may create an account using Sign in with Apple or email and password. You're responsible for your credentials. One account per person.

You can delete your account anytime from the app or by contacting support. Purchased tours remain associated with your Apple ID and can be restored.

4. Purchases

What you're buying

A perpetual, non-transferable license to download and use that tour's content on your Apple devices. Atlas and Tales retains all rights to the underlying content.

Pricing

Prices are displayed in the app, processed by Apple. We may change prices, but changes don't affect tours you've already purchased.

Refunds

Handled by Apple per their refund policy. We can't process refunds directly.

Restoring purchases

Switch devices or reinstall? Restore purchases at no extra cost via your avatar → Restore Purchases.

5. Tour content

Our narration is for entertainment and general interest. We strive for accuracy but don't guarantee every historical detail. Locations may have changed since a tour was created — check current conditions before visiting.

Images are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses, with attribution displayed alongside each image.

6. Offline use

Tours work offline after downloading. You can offload (remove) a tour from your device anytime without losing your purchase. We may update tour content — updates are available for download but never forced onto your device.

7. Driving safety

⚠️ Turns plays audio automatically based on GPS. You don't need to touch your phone while driving. Set up your tour before you start driving.

Turns is not a navigation app. "Open in Maps" hands off to Apple Maps. Always follow posted traffic signs and road conditions.

All audio controls are available through CarPlay, the lock screen, or steering wheel controls. Never interact with your phone screen while driving.

8. Intellectual property

All content in Turns — narration, audio, tour designs, UI, branding — is owned by Atlas and Tales or used under license. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from tour content.

You can share your experience — tell friends, post photos, write reviews. We'd love that.

9. Availability

We may add, modify, or remove tours. If we remove one you've purchased, you keep the downloaded version. We may temporarily disable tours via our safety system if issues are found (road closures, content errors).

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Downloaded tours work regardless of service status.

10. Don't misuse Turns

11. Limitation of liability

Turns is provided "as is." We're not liable for content inaccuracies, GPS issues, road conditions at tour locations, damages from driving, or loss of downloaded content.

Our total liability is limited to the price of the tour involved, or $10, whichever is greater.

12. Other legal bits

Termination

Delete the app anytime to stop using Turns. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. You keep your Apple ID purchase rights regardless.

Governing law

California law, Santa Clara County courts.

Apple's terms

Your use is also subject to Apple's Standard EULA. Apple's terms prevail for purchases and distribution.
